Health And Safety Policy
Deep Cleaning Hampstead Health and Safety Policy
This Health and Safety Policy sets out the principles, responsibilities and procedures that guide how Deep Cleaning Hampstead protects the wellbeing of employees, clients, visitors, contractors and members of the public. Our aim is to deliver high quality deep cleaning services while preventing injury, ill health and damage to property.
Our Health and Safety Objectives
Deep Cleaning Hampstead is committed to providing a safe and healthy working environment wherever our teams operate. We seek to:
Identify, assess and control risks arising from our cleaning activities. Comply with applicable health and safety legislation and recognised industry guidance. Provide and maintain safe equipment, cleaning products and systems of work. Ensure that staff receive appropriate information, instruction, training and supervision. Promote a positive safety culture in which everyone accepts responsibility for their own safety and that of others. Continually improve our health and safety performance through monitoring and review.
Management Responsibilities
Senior management is responsible for implementing this policy and ensuring that health and safety considerations are integrated into all aspects of our deep cleaning operations. This includes:
Ensuring that adequate resources are available for health and safety. Approving safe systems of work, risk assessments and method statements. Reviewing accident and incident reports and taking corrective action. Monitoring compliance with this policy and related procedures. Leading by example and reinforcing safe working practices.
Employee Responsibilities
Every employee and contractor working on behalf of Deep Cleaning Hampstead has a duty to take reasonable care of their own health and safety and that of others who may be affected by their actions. All staff are expected to:
Follow company safety procedures and site specific rules. Use personal protective equipment as instructed and keep it in good condition. Report accidents, incidents, near misses and unsafe conditions to management. Cooperate with training, supervision and health surveillance where required. Refrain from engaging in dangerous practices or horseplay while at work.
Risk Assessment and Safe Systems of Work
Before commencing deep cleaning work at any premises, suitable and sufficient risk assessments are undertaken to identify potential hazards and evaluate the level of risk. These assessments cover, as appropriate:
Use, storage and disposal of cleaning chemicals. Manual handling of equipment, furniture and waste. Use of electrical cleaning equipment and extension leads. Working at height, including on steps, ladders and access equipment. Slip, trip and fall hazards in wet or cluttered areas. Exposure to biological contamination and sharps where relevant.
Based on these assessments, safe systems of work and method statements are developed and communicated to staff. Work must be carried out strictly in accordance with these controls.
Chemical Safety and COSHH
Deep Cleaning Hampstead manages cleaning chemicals in line with recognised control of substances hazardous to health principles. For all hazardous substances, we ensure that:
Approved products are selected and purchased from reputable suppliers. Safety data sheets are obtained and kept available for reference. COSHH assessments are completed and reviewed regularly. Chemicals are clearly labelled and stored securely when not in use. Staff are trained in correct dilution, application and disposal methods. Appropriate personal protective equipment is provided and worn as required.
Chemicals are never mixed unless explicitly directed by the manufacturer, and staff are instructed to avoid unnecessary exposure through skin contact, inhalation or ingestion.
Personal Protective Equipment
Suitable personal protective equipment is provided free of charge where risks cannot be adequately controlled by other means. This may include items such as gloves, eye protection, masks or respirators, aprons and non slip footwear.
Employees must use the PPE provided, care for it properly and report any loss or damage immediately. Management will ensure PPE is appropriate for the task, maintained in good condition and replaced when necessary.
Training, Information and Supervision
All staff receive induction training that covers general health and safety requirements, safe use of equipment, emergency procedures and reporting arrangements. Additional task specific training is provided on topics such as:
Safe handling and use of chemicals and equipment. Manual handling techniques to reduce strain and injury. Working safely at height and in confined or poorly ventilated spaces. Infection control procedures for high risk environments.
Supervisors monitor performance on site, provide guidance where needed and address unsafe practices promptly.
Equipment Safety and Maintenance
Cleaning equipment and tools are selected, maintained and inspected to ensure they remain safe and fit for purpose. This includes:
Carrying out regular visual checks and planned maintenance. Removing defective items from service immediately. Ensuring electrical equipment is used with care and checked as required. Providing staff with instructions and training on safe operation.
Equipment must only be used for its intended purpose and in accordance with manufacturer instructions and company procedures.
Housekeeping and Site Safety
Good housekeeping is essential to the safety of our deep cleaning activities. Staff are required to:
Keep work areas tidy and free from unnecessary obstructions. Display warning signs where floors are wet or work is in progress. Route cables and hoses to minimise trip hazards. Secure access equipment when in use and when stored. Dispose of waste promptly and safely at approved points.
When working at client premises, our teams respect all site rules and cooperate with client representatives to manage shared risks.
Accidents, Incidents and Emergency Procedures
All accidents, injuries, near misses and dangerous occurrences must be reported to management as soon as possible. Details are recorded, investigated and used to prevent recurrence.
Staff are made aware of emergency procedures relevant to the premises where they are working, including fire evacuation routes, assembly points and the location of first aid supplies. Employees must follow these procedures and cooperate fully with any emergency services or site representatives.
Health and Safety Policy Review
This Health and Safety Policy is reviewed periodically and whenever there are significant changes in our operations, legislation or industry best practice. Updated versions are communicated to staff and replace any earlier editions.
By following this policy and associated procedures, Deep Cleaning Hampstead seeks to ensure that all deep cleaning work is completed safely, responsibly and with full regard for the wellbeing of everyone involved.
